Online Counselling

Are you looking for counselling support but finding it difficult to attend conventional face-to-face appointments? Have you considered online counselling? Sometimes known as telehealth or e-counselling, online is a relatively new but fast-developing platform for providing counselling services. Furthermore, research suggests that for many people online counselling is equally as effective as face-to-face therapy.

Online counselling provides you with high quality counselling support in your own home, or wherever is convenient for you. It offers the same level of support and confidentiality as in-person sessions. Online counselling is an alternative for people who find it challenging to attend a traditional appointment for personal or professional reasons.

Is Online Counselling Right for You?

Here are some of the reasons why clients have chosen to have their counselling over the phone or online.

  • I’m busy looking after my children at home and can’t afford a babysitter.
  • My work schedule means I can’t attend regular counselling session times. So Saturday mornings are great for me.
  • I work FIFO in a remote area and don’t have access to face-to-face counselling services.
  • I lived overseas and wanted access to an English-speaking counsellor.
  • I don’t live or work near the counsellor I was referred to by a friend.
  • My partner and me are both short on time and wanted to economise on the time spent travelling to and from your sessions. Oh, and finding parking can be a real hassle!
  • It’s easier to set a time when we are going to both be available online.
  • We can talk straightaway after the session about what we’ve learned.
  • I find it easier to open up about my problems when I’m in the security of my own home.
  • I just like the convenience of having counselling sessions in my own place.

Whatever the reason is for your decision, you can expect the same level of care from our counsellors that you would receive in a face-to-face counselling session.

How will you ensure that you have privacy and that you won’t be interrupted during your session?

Children

Set your kids up in a different room with things eg a video to keep them happy for 50 minutes.

Set-up

  • Sit side-by-side on a sofa or individual chairs and set up your device so that both your heads are visible on the screen at the same time.
  • Have water and tissues nearby.
  • Check that you have downloaded Zoom onto your phone or tablet.

Zoom session
