Assertive Quiz
Are you a passive, aggressive or assertive communicator? Take this short quiz to find out which profile best describes you.
Person A
I have opinions and I’m aware of my feelings but I don’t express them as I don’t want any conflict in my life or any confrontational situations.
Person B
I have opinions and feelings and I believe it is important for everyone around me to know them. I will do what it takes to get my own way.
Person C
I am direct. I let people know how I’m feeling in a non-confrontational way and without any judgement. I’m willing to compromise.
What does this mean?
Person A is a passive communicator. These are the people that are said “to let people walk all over them”. This is not a great place to be. This person never stands up for what they believe in.
Person B is at the other end of the spectrum. This is an aggressive communicator. Quite often, these people are loud and abrupt. This may mean they get their own way, but they do this in a rude and disrespectful way. Frequently, they are hurting themselves and, by doing that, they are hurting the people around them.
Person C is an assertive communicator. These are the people we like to be around. They let you know how they are feeling and what they are thinking. What’s more, according to the Mayo Clinic, “Assertiveness can help you control stress and anger and improve coping skills.”
